ID Apartments, Port Melbourne
The client's brief specified a classy modern look, and two palm species were selected.
The two palm species supplied were Livistona australis and Trachycarpus fortunei . 24 Livistona australis (left side of first photo) were supplied in Balled & Burlap with a 5m trunk, and created an instant impression. 19 Trachycarpus fortunei were supplied with a 2m trunk.
Trachcycarpus fortunei is possibly the most cold-tolerant palm available in Australia, so is an excellent choice for Melbourne.
Both species of palms have established well and create a bold entrance to the apartments.
Below are photographs of the project site shortly after planting, and then after a few years' development.
